The talented A&R Way Boatbuilding Ltd.worked hard on Shemaron’s hull, a large piece of oak was skilfully crafted into a new stem and the fastenings of the garboard strakes were checked and re-caulked for their entire length. This work was completed in one week, the next lot of work will commence shortly. This will include more caulking on the hull and possibly a couple of planks around the waterline will be replaced.
The oak wood fendering/belting all around the boat needs attention, the top edge is allowing rain water to enter the hull causing decay to other parts of the boat. Large pieces of oak will have to be replaced before the steel coping irons can be re-fitted. There are countless other jobs to be done but it looks like Shemaron will be re- launched in March thanks in no small part to the crowdfunding campaign, and online and postal donations which raised nearly £2,000 for the Ring Net Heritage Trust.
